Dental Implants in Columbus
A Solution to Missing, Damaged, or Decayed Teeth
Living with missing teeth is hard. It is not only inconvenient but can also be the cause of a lot of embarrassment and anxiety. Thankfully, at Lifetime Dental Health we are able to offer a solution. If you or a family member is missing one or more teeth, our team is here to help.
By using secure, long-lasting dental implants, we can replace any missing tooth. A dental implant is a specially-made synthetic tooth root that is attached directly to the jaw bone. After healing, an artificial tooth or bridge can be attached to the implant.
Advantages of Dental Implants
Dr. Barry can perform the entire implant procedure from start to finish. His years of experience allow him to confidently perform each step – from placing the implant post to installing the crown.
There are several advantages to dental implants, including:
- Lasting results
- Unmatched stability
- Helps preserve the bone
- Helps the patient regain normal speech, and
- Looks and feels like normal teeth
When you choose a dental implant, you no longer have to worry about the inconvenience of traditional dentures. These comfortable implants can support tooth replacements, dental bridges, and implant dentures. Plus, the procedure doesn’t require cutting away healthy teeth.
Dental implants are a great way to get your natural smile back.
Types of Implants
At Lifetime Dental we offer a variety of implant options. These implants are comfortable, reliable, and are typically made of biocompatible materials such as metals or ceramic.
Implant types include:
- Traditional Implants
- Mini Implants
- Non-Removable Zirconia Bridge
- Semi-Removable Fix on Six Zirconia Bridge
- Removable Acrylic Dentures
Traditional implants are attached directly to the jawbone. They can be used to replace a single tooth, or multiple teeth – depending on our patient’s needs. We recommend this procedure for those with good bone quality and volume.
A Zirconia Bridge is non-removable and involves placing between 10 to 12 implants for support. Once the implants have healed, your permanent bridge will be fitted and finally cemented onto the implants for a permanent, effective, and comfortable tooth replacement.
Fix on Six Zirconia Bridges are semi-removable and can be detached by your dentist during a check-up or cleaning visit. Depending on your bone structure, between 6 to 10 implants may be placed.
Acrylic dentures are an excellent option for those who want a great-fitting, functional set of dentures without having to worry about a large number of implants being placed. These removable dentures only require 4 to 6 implants, depending on the quality of your underlying bone structure. Acrylic dentures provide an economical solution for those who want a more natural-feeling and secure denture.
Mini Implants
For those who are not candidates for traditional implants, mini implants are also available! Mini implants anchor custom metal frameworks to the target site. This procedure is quick and less invasive than other treatments. This is the best option for those with a thin bone structure and those seeking a more economical solution.

What Should I Expect?
Dental implants can take several months to place and heal. The first step is to schedule a consultation with your dentist.
Once the procedure is underway, you will be placed under local anesthesia. Your dentist will then attach the artificial root to your jawbone. Screws and posts are placed to keep the implant in place. During the healing process, the artificial root will begin to fuse with your natural bone. Healing can take up to six months. Once the site has completely healed, your new tooth or teeth will be fitted onto their implants.
Unlike traditional options, mini implants typically take less than one hour to place and you can return to your regular schedule and life soon thereafter. Mini implants are often used to stabilize loose dentures or to replace missing teeth. They require less surgery, a shorter healing time, and are less invasive.
Dr. Barry and Dr. Love will provide you with detailed instructions on how to take care of your implants for the best results. Proper oral hygiene must be maintained for the site to heal. We recommend brushing and flossing around the area at least twice a day. The success of your new implants will depend on your commitment to this routine. While dental implants sometimes need to be adjusted, they can last a lifetime. With proper hygiene, your implants will likely remain with you forever.
In the case that an implant needs to be fixed or replaced, our doctors can provide comprehensive restorative services.
