The best solution to missing, damaged, or decayed teeth
Missing teeth is difficult and can cause embarrassment and anxiety. If you are missing a tooth or multiple teeth, let our understanding team talk to you about the option of dental implants.
We can replace your missing tooth or teeth with strong, secure, long-lasting dental implants. A dental implant is composed of an artificial tooth root that is surgically placed into the jawbone and used to anchor a replacement tooth or bridge.
Advantages of dental implants:
- Long lasting result
- Unmatched stability
- Can support dental bridges and dentures
- Don’t require cutting down healthy teeth
- Do away with inconvenient dentures
- Helps in the preservation of bone
- Helps patient regain normal speech
- Look and feel just like natural teeth
If you are missing teeth, dental implants are a natural-looking way to get your smile back.
Types of Dental Implants
Biocompatible materials (metals and bone-like ceramic) are used to create dental implants. Implants can be:
- Directly attached to the jawbone just like natural tooth roots. These are recommended for patients with good jawbone quality and volume.
- Custom-made metal frameworks anchored by mini dental implants. These are recommended for patients with thin bone.
What to Expect
The entire process can take several months from start to finish.
Under local anesthetic, your dentist surgically places the artificial tooth root into your jawbone. After the screws and posts are placed, the wound is allowed to heal and the roots are given time to fuse with the jawbone. The healing process can take up to six months, and your permanent teeth are fitted once healing is complete.
Your commitment to oral hygiene will affect the success rate of your new dental implants. Drs. Barry and Love will give you specific instructions on how to care for them. This includes excellent oral hygiene – brush and floss around the dental implant at least twice a day and visit your dentist for regular cleanings.
