Preventative Care

Prevent gum disease, tooth decay, and other dental problems with the help of your Columbus dentists

Preventive dentistry refers to the procedures and lifestyle habits that help stop the onset, progression, and recurrence of oral disease. At Lifetime Dental Health we are committed to the long-term health and wellness of our Columbus, Ohio patients.

We cover both the in-office and at-home phases of preventive oral care. Our highly skilled dental team performs in-office evaluation and treatment to keep your teeth and gums healthy. We also make sure that excellent oral health is maintained by educating patients about proper at-home oral care. Dr. Barry, Dr. Love, and the rest of the team look for signs of oral problems like tooth decay, gum disease, and changes in the bones and soft tissues.

Oral Hygiene Program

At Lifetime Dental Health, you will get a customized oral hygiene plan. Our dental team will assess the condition of your teeth and gums and design a program that suits you best. This includes establishing a customized teeth-cleaning schedule (every 3, 4, or 6 months). You’ll receive home-care aids like tongue scrapers, Sulcabrush, and rubber tip stimulators to help maintain optimum oral health between dental appointments.

To prevent gum disease and cavities, we also prescribe in-office or at-home fluoride treatments. Our oral education includes:

  • Nutrition guidance
  • Effects of smoking on oral health
  • Proper brushing technique
  • Proper flossing technique
