Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry

Stepping into a dental office can be intimidating. Millions of Americans are afraid of going to the dentist. In fact, this is one of the main reasons so many people go without getting the dental care and treatment they so desperately need.

At Lifetime Dental Health, Dr. Barry and Dr. Love want every patient to have a relaxing, comfortable visit. Fortunately, with sedation dentistry, you can feel comfortable and relaxed during any dental treatment. By the time the sedative wears off, your work will be completed and you can go about your day. With dental sedation, every visit to the dentist can be comfortable and stress-free.

Who Is Sedation Dentistry for?

Sedation dentistry is a great option for people who suffer from a high level of stress and anxiety during their dental exam. It is also perfect for those who need major work done, or who have sensitive teeth and gums.

We recommend sedation dentistry to those who:

  •   Are afraid of visiting the dentist
  •   Dislike the environment of a dentist office
  •   Dislike the surrounding smells, sounds, and equipment
  •   Have a sensitive gag reflex
  •   Are not susceptible to local anesthetic
  •   Have sensitive gums and teeth
  •   Don’t have time for lengthy procedures
  •   Need extensive dental work, and
  •   Want a comfortable, relaxing experience.

We also recommend this option for patients who may have had a traumatic dental experience in the past. Sedation dentistry allows us to give every patient the treatment they deserve.

What Options Do You Provide?

Your peace of mind is our top priority. When you visit Lifetime Dental Health, the most important person in our office is you! That is why we offer sedation without the use of needles or shots. Instead, you can choose from either oral sedation or inhaled minimal sedation.

Oral sedation is taken as a pill. This method is safe and effective and will leave you feeling calm and relaxed. You may feel a little groggy, but you will still be conscious and able to communicate with your hygienist and dentist.

Another option is taking nitrous oxide – also called “laughing gas.” Similar to oral sedation, you will feel relaxed and groggy but will still be conscious during your procedure. Nitrous oxide might even make you feel a little happier.

With both options, you will be in a comfortable chair and we will monitor your vital signs during the entire procedure.

Dental exams and procedures don’t have to be stressful. Our team at Lifetime Dental Health is here to help you find the perfect solution for a worry-free visit.
